In Grade 3 we have just finished our unit of inquiry focusing on poetry. Our central idea was “Poetry connects people with common feelings and ideas”

The children read lots of poems, chose their favorites for a collection and learned how to analyze poems in terms of purpose, structure and mood. In addition, they had fun writing and editing their own poems and everyone made their own poetry book. Each child chose one or two poems to learn by heart and practiced reciting aloud with expression and clear pronunciation. We also shared our poems and a rap song with the Primary students through our assembly. We hope to be able to share a recording of their performance with parents very soon.
