MYP1 Students Explore Basque Culture in St. Jean de Luz
This past week, our MYP1 students embarked on an exciting trip to St. Jean de Luz, where they visited the charming Christmas market and explored the unique blend of traditions in the French Basque region. The trip provided a wonderful opportunity for students to compare and contrast the cultural similarities and differences between Spanish Basque and French Basque traditions.
From sampling regional delicacies to observing local customs, the students deepened their understanding of how shared heritage connects communities across borders while appreciating the diversity that makes each region unique. The experience ties directly into their studies on global citizenship, fostering a sense of cultural awareness and connection that will last well beyond the classroom.
It was a meaningful and memorable day for everyone involved!
The MYP 2 French students were also part of the trip although in smaller numbers and they too thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Christmas market was a new experience for some.
They had to complete a treasure hunt and practice some French.
