Gran Domine Hotel Trip

Gran Domine Hotel Trip

DECA and DECA Jr. members were fortunate to have the opportunity to visit The Gran Hotel Domine last week. During the class visit, students were given a tour of the various departments and learned how far hotel staff members will go to satisfy guests. Talks were given by a variety of people in different positions.  Students learned first hand from reception managers, where guests check in and out, to housekeeping and maintenance departments. To learn about the hotel’s food and beverage operations, including the kitchen and restaurant they spoke to the restaurant manager, chef and other employees. DECA students also learned about the hotel’s management and leadership structure, including the role of the general manager and decision making process.

Overall, the class gained valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of a five star hotel including the various roles and responsibilities of the staff. The biggest take-away was to learn that all the jobs are important and success depends on the cooperation of the team.
