DP1 guest speaker: Álvaro Martín Blanco
We are excited to announce that on Monday, March 27th, the DP1 English and Spanish Language and Literature will be hosting a special guest speaker to discuss film technique with our students. The celebrated Director of Photography, Álvaro Martín Blanco, will be sharing his insights and experiences in the field of film making.
Álvaro Martín Blanco in an award-winning director of photography who, according to his IMDB page, has “worked as the director of photography for multiple projects, all of which were critical[ly] acclaimed…and have been screened at such prestigious festivals as Cannes, Seattle, Clermont Ferrand, or San Sebastian.” His cinematography can also be seen in in the television content he developed for “HBO, Amazon Prime, El ReyTv Network channel, founded and directed by Robert Rodriguez, and Time Warner Cable TV, among others” and “in commercials for brands such as Gillette, Honda, Ford, Crest 3D, Sabritas-Lays, Lakers, Real Madrid, Gerber, Red Cross, Disney, among others.” With his wealth of knowledge and experience, he will be able to provide our students with valuable insights into the art of filmmaking and, as they explore the techniques and processes involved in creating cinematic works, help prepare them for the challenging task of analyzing visual texts for the IB.
