ASB FOR UKRAINE
We would like to thank the ASB community for their prompt help and support in this CAS initiative. Thank you so much for your contributions that came flooding in day in and day out and to all the people that reached out to help us with logistics, contacts, and materials. Thanks to those of you who offered to donate items by the bulk, we took some and asked some others to wait as it was difficult to handle so many donations, but we will be in touch soon.
Over the past week, CAS students from DP1 and DP2 have been working diligently collecting donations from the classrooms and then spending their recess, lunch periods and staying after school sorting materials for dispatching them to the different locations.
Yesterday afternoon, Mr. Fisher and Ms. Schats filled a car with boxes and took them to Hotel Ilunion in San Mamés, Bilbao where they are taking in Ukrainian Families.
This morning, with the help of DP1 parents Ana Elorriaga and Pedro Maestre, we were able to fill two vans with boxes, one went to Albergue Berriz (Suspergintza) and the other to Fundación Matia who is, together with Alex Txikon, sending a bus Poland with donations and bringing back refugees to Euskadi (this is the third bus they are dispatching to the border and they have already being able to accommodate 100 people in Euskadi).
This afternoon, we are helping fundación ACEV (who are also sending materials to support Ukrainian refugees) by filling a complete van with donations that will be distributed among the refugees as they arrive in Euskadi.
At the moment we are going to ask you to be alert for further messages asking for donations as we are waiting for the organizations to specify their needs. This drive does not end here and ASB will continue to support the cause.
Thanks again for your help in making this initiative possible.
