Welcome to the American School of Bilbao (ASB) Lower School Website. At ASB, we aim to provide a safe and stimulating environment for our students to develop their multiple intelligences. As we have developed our new curriculum, we have incorporated the IB learner profile into the design of our Units of Inquiry in order to ensure our student’s success. We promote a fun environment that fosters learning and discovery while taking into account individual differences.

As an international school, strong emphasis is placed on English Language acquisition while nurturing other intelligences to help our children become respectful, tolerant world citizens. The attributes that are developed today will become the tools that they will use for their success in later years.

We are an IB World School that offers the Primary Years Programme (PYP), providing a quality in education program that all IB schools throughout the world set as their benchmark. Our rigorous academic program based on the Common Core providing a setting of opportunities for discovery and growth in all areas. Please click on our PYP section for more information.

Technology is a tool that our students learn through becoming digital citizens. Students in 1st and 2nd grade share tablets, while 3rd grade onwards have individual Chrome Books in class. Students are aided by the use of technology so they are the center of their own learning and discovery through a hands-on approach to education.

Throughout a child’s education, we foster the uniqueness of the student, taking a holistic approach to their learning and looking after their social and emotional welfare. We have educators in our Student Support Services to work with parents and students in learning and social difficulties.

At ASB, we believe in a strong collaboration with parents to cooperate in the education of our students. This partnership provides a solid basis of communication and cooperation to meet our common goal – your child’s success. As a community, we must ensure that all stakeholders work closely to help our students thrive in a complex international community.

Please feel free to explore the information on our site. Thank you for your visit and I look forward to welcoming you to ASB.
