Job vacancies

We recruit two types of teachers – for the regular program of instruction (preK – Grade 12) or for the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) program. In the regular program, most courses are taught in English; however, some courses are taught in Spanish (Lengua y Literature, Ciencias sociales) and follow the Spanish curriculum. These courses increase in the 11th and 12th Grades when students are preparing for the Selectividad. If you file an application, please make it clear what type of position you are applying for, specifying the subject(s) and/or grade level(s).

Applications to the regular program should be addressed to the Director at this email address: with a copy to the Elementary School Principal at for these classes.

Applications for the EFL program should be directed to the EFL Coordinator at this email address: .

If you are applying for a specific position announced on our website, be sure to indicate clearly the job posting identification number. A first application should include only a brief letter of motivation explaining what contribution you can make to the ASB community, and a CV no longer than two pages. We will contact you for further information if we take up your application. We receive many, many applications during the year and are not able to respond to each one. If after applying you do not hear from us within two weeks, you may assume we are not interested in your candidacy.

Non-EU candidates:

Hiring people who do not hold an EU passport is possible, but the process is long, taking generally up to 6 months to complete. Please bear this in mind in terms of when to file your application.

Reference: EFL LIBRARIAN - JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for someone who not only has basic librarian skills but is also a teacher of children of all ages. This is a part-time position, and will involve working according to the schedule below:

July and August 9:30 to 14:00
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:00 to 20:00 and Saturdays from 9:30 to 14:00, October to May (both inclusive).

The position will begin on: 1st July 2010

Library in the EFL programme is an activity which all classes participate in. The successful applicant needs to provide a variety of age-appropriate activities to encourage children in reading and developing an interest in fiction and non-fiction books as a source of personal development, for enjoyment and as a way to learn more about the world around them. The activities we do involve:
- Storytelling with or without follow up handouts
- Sharing stories through reading aloud or listening to our graded readers
- Provide worksheets to go with different books
- Learning basic library search skills
- Competitions and games
- Quiet reading time

The librarian is expected to maintain and update the EFL book collection by:
- Ordering new books, which have appropriate levels and topics and are interesting and attractive for the students
- Catalogue new books
- Weed out old or damaged books in order to keep the collection looking attractive

The librarian is also expected to use the Destiny Library programme and needs to:
- give borrowers a library number
- allow and encourage students to borrow books during library activity
- make sure all books have been returned at the end of the course
- use discretion when deciding whom to lend books to from the ASB collection.

It is important for the successful candidate to understand that this is not a “stand alone” library. The resources are fully integrated into the full ASB Library used by all students of the School. As such, the successful candidate will need to be able to work with the ASB Librarian and when appropriate accept guidance and suggestions from this person so as to maintain a smooth-functioning Library for all.

Applications, including a CV, letter of motivation, and at least three professional referees, should be made direct to:
